It consists of two parts, i.e. a mountain-shaped base and a kneeling figure with a Zun (wine vessel) on the head. The mountain-shaped base features delicate and elegant decorative patterns in openwork, with Feileng (扉棱, protruding edges) at the waist. The figure is topless. With prominent nipples, she wears a skirt with a belt tied around the waist. The two ends of the belt are knotted in front of the chest and some items are inserted in the knot. The figure carries a lidded bronze Zun-vessel on top of her head and raises both hands to hold the round-foot vessel by the belly. It shows the scene in which a witch in the ancient Shu Kingdom kneels and carries a Zun-vessel on her head on the top of a mountain to offer sacrifices to gods on the holy mountain. As the prominent nipples on the chest suggest, the figure is a witch or goddess in the ancient Shu Kingdom. Albeit small in size, it is a rare treasure. Firstly, it has a complete human image. Secondly, Zun and Lei (bronze wine vessel) were important ritual vessels in ancient China. Today, the views on their specific usage vary. The kneeling figure with a Zunvessel on the head showcases how Zun was used in ancient sacrificial ceremonies. Perfectly structured and well-proportioned, the figure reflects the superb modelling skills of craftsmen in the ancient Shu Kingdom and possesses a long-lasting aesthetic appeal, with high ornamental and artistic value.
